20 Weeks.
We're almost halfway there! Baby Mayes is now the length of a banana. I am feeling movement all the time now. We did recently learn that Baby Mayes is already stubborn. I've been able to feel movement from the outside for a week or so, but every time I tried to have Bryan feel the baby would stop moving. He finally got to feel Baby Mayes kick last night for the first time.
We also got the crib delivered and set up this week. Over the next couple months we will really start to work on the nursery.
This next week is a big one. Not only will we reach the actual halfway mark, but we get to find out the gender as long as Baby Mayes cooperates. We've been waiting anxiously to find out so fingers crossed that he or she cooperates for us!

18 Weeks.
18 weeks and Baby Mayes is the size of a sweet potato now! This week I really started to feel Baby Mayes move around a lot more now. He or she is definitely active early morning and late at night - and around dinner time. I know that movement will still be sporadic and not very consistent yet, but feeling movement as much as I am already is exciting.
I had an appointment with our midwife this week. Just our monthly appointment, but Baby Mayes was even active for our midwife. She kept trying to listen to the heartbeat long enough to pick up a heart rate reading on the doppler; however, Baby Mayes had other plans in mind. He or she kept moving around making it hard. Our midwife said sometimes babies are just really active and you have to wonder what they are doing in there. Our next appointment will be for our 20 week ultrasound and as long as Baby Mayes cooperates we'll finally get to find out the gender. Hooray!

17 Weeks.
Happy Easter! Baby Mayes is getting to enjoy a lot of holidays through me. First Valentine's Day and now Easter. There will be several more to come as well.
Baby Mayes is now the size of an onion at 17 weeks, but I thought remembering the holiday was more fun for the chalkboard.
This last week had some milestones. I spent my birthday in bed with the stomach flu. It was my first illness while being pregnant. Needless to say it was not a fun birthday (or a fun milestone), but Bryan had taken me out to dinner the night before so I still had a birthday dinner. More importantly, though, is that I finally felt Baby Mayes move! With this being the first movements I don't feel them regularly yet and Bryan can't feel anything, but it's still exciting for me. I can't wait for the movements to become regular and for Bryan to be able to feel the baby move.
In unrelated news to Baby Mayes (sort of), I have decided to make Bryan and I an Easter dinner this year. We never really celebrate any holidays if we are on our own at home, but I decided with a little one coming it'd be nice to start some new traditions. So, I am using some of my favorite holiday recipes from family members and making us a small Easter dinner with ham, broccoli salad, creamed corn, and rolls. We were even planning to use our kitchen table (we usually just eat in the living room), but we had to empty out our bedroom to clean the carpets so we won't get to do that. Oh well - at least we'll have yummy food!
Oh, Otis wanted to get in on the picture taking this week. As soon as Bryan was done taking my picture he sat on my lap. It was hard to get him to look at the camera though with the other animals around. I think we got a pretty good picture, though.
