This is a double duty post. When I finally realized I hadn't updated on Charlotte's tenth month, it was already almost time to take her eleven month photos. I figured at that point I should probably just do one post, because with my mom brain there is no way I'd be able to remember what was strictly ten months and what was strictly eleven months. Even now being a little past a week of her turning eleven months I feel like I am already blurring what I will need to post for her twelve month update. Serious mom brain over here! But here we go...
- Charlotte is growing. We haven't had a doctor's appointment recently so I don't know her exact weight or height, but she is outgrowing clothes all of a sudden. I guess she went through a growth spurt recently!
- She has four teeth now! Her two bottom teeth and her two top teeth. Teething has been pretty rough for her. It has resulted in sleepless nights and lots of crying (which is unlike her).
- She is really working on saying "mama", "dada", "Bubba", and "yeah".
- Charlotte eats three meals a day now - for the most part. Some days we miss lunch because she ends up napping through lunchtime. On those days, I let her eat some snacks with me.
- On the topic of eating, she is taking to certain solid foods. She loves eating those Hawaiian rolls, turkey lunch meat, strawberries, mashed and baked potatoes, and even strawberry gelato.
- She is adjusting well to living in Colorado. I don't think it even phased her any.
- Her and her cousin Penelope are growing even closer. Penelope helps take care of Charlotte (many bath nights have been assisted by Penelope) and Charlotte tries to copy Penelope when playing.
- We have started to introduce a sippy cup with water. She likes it, but doesn't really get the hang of tipping the cup by herself. She will drink out of a straw or my cup if I help her.
- Right after we moved to Colorado we started an early literacy program at the library once a week (for eight weeks), she loved it. She loved the songs and toys. I have a feeling we will need to keep up with going to the library (not that I mind).
- I know I have mentioned this before, but Charlotte never sits still unless she is really focused on a toy or tired. Otherwise there is no stopping her. She crawls around, cruises on furniture, and just keeps going. Not to mention she is FAST. I wish I had her energy. (Although, it is making taking any pictures of her hard!)
- She has taken a few steps without holding onto anything between the couch and foot stool. She also has stood up for a few seconds by herself. However, she isn't realizing she is doing these things. So, if I try to get her to stand up by herself she won't and she won't take steps holding my hands (little miss independent would rather crawl around by herself).
- She has finally added another favorite movie to her repertoire. She now also likes "Ratatouille". This is mainly because with her becoming more aware of words, I don't want her learning some of the words in "Titanic". I may need to contact James Cameron and see if he can make a baby-friendly version for me.
And an update on our life as parents:
- We are really having to make adjustments to the way we do things since moving. Bryan now has a totally different work schedule which means most nights I am on my own for getting Charlotte ready for bed. On the bright side, Bryan is getting to spend more time with her in the mornings when she is usually happiest and most playful.
- I am finding it harder to keep a "family schedule" with more people in the house. When it was just the three of us, Charlotte would have dinner then we would eat dinner with her still at the table. Now with my parents in the house (and my dad often traveling), Bryan working evenings 5 days a week, and sometimes my sister and Penelope being here, it is a lot harder to plan actual dinnertime meals. I have kept Charlotte on her dinnertime schedule, but more often than not we as a family do not eat dinner right after her. I'm hoping that as schedules get figured out and we get used to planning meals for more people we can get back in the swing of that, especially since Charlotte is starting to eat more of my food at meals.
- Time just seems to slip away from me lately (obviously). I have to make multiple to-do lists and I still struggle to get some things done because I am chasing Charlotte around most of the time. Most of the time I don't even know where the time has gone, but I do know I am spending time with my daughter and my family and that is what is most important.
